The Man in the Flood

In these trying times we are all living through worldwide I thought I would post an updated article I wrote many years ago to help anyone who needs a helpful ‘mind shift’ during this C-19 pandemic affecting all of us.

Perhaps you’ve heard the story of the man caught in a flood who had a deep faith in God. As the flood waters rose, his neighbors told him, “You have to leave, the flood is going to wash everything away.”

Calmly, the man replied, “It’s not a problem, God will save me.”

As the waters continued to rise to the second floor of the man’s house, a boat came by with rescuers. They said, “Quickly, get in, the flood is going to wash everything away.”

Again the man replied, “It’s not a problem, God will save me.”

As the flood worsened, the man was forced to climb onto the roof of his home. A helicopter came, threw down a ladder and the rescuers said, “Climb up. The flood is about to wash everything away.”

One more time, the man said, “It’s not a problem, God will save me.”

Finally, the flood washed everything away, and the man drowned.

When he reached heaven, he saw God. The first thing he asked was, “Lord, I was so certain you would save me, what happened?”

Very perplexed, God said to the man, “I just don’t know, I sent neighbors, a boat and a helicopter to save you.”

Are you working on gaining the awareness to consciously ‘see’ the hidden opportunities that are in your life at this moment? Yes, believe it or not there are oppornuties waiting for you even in this most trying of times.

Or have you been ‘playing it safe’ and doing the same things you have always done in life and getting the same results you’ve always gotten? Perhaps it’s time to ‘step out of your box?’

Do you want to be like the man in the flood who simply could not see the life-changing opportunities in front of him, or are you ready to begin looking with a new set of eyes at your life and uncover the many opportunities that are swirling all around you at this very moment?

Messages of doom & gloom surround us everywhere in during this pandemic, but you are the one who has control of what happens in your life. Did you know that during the Great Depression of the 1930’s tens of thousands of ordinary people became very wealthy and rich?

This was one of the worst economic periods in the history of our country but many people chose to look for opportunites that the general population could not see.

Things were so bad they shifted their mindsets away from their own problems and focused on how they could help other people live a better life, and answers and solutions appeared to them and they acted on them. And their lives changed forever!

Opportunity is always present, at all times, in everyone’s life… IF you choose to look for it, recognize it, and act on it. And opportunities are present in your life right now in these tough times we are living in right now.

It doesn’t matter what type work you do to earn your living, what your hobbies and interests are, where you live, what your income level is, or how much education you have.

Opportunities are always present for people who decide to search ALL areas of their life for ideas that may improve the lives of themselves and others.

Begin to ask yourself questions about your life that you normally do not think of. This is an excellent time with most of the world staying home.

“What could I do to make life better for me, my family, and others?”

“With my unique skills and talents I have learned how could I help others make their lives better?”

“How can I use my passions and interests to improve my life and the lives of others?”

When you begin to ask yourself questions about how you can make a difference in someone’s life you begin to bring new opportunities out from under the fog of everyday life and they begin appear to you.

When you begin to focus on, and think of ideas, about how you can make a difference a shift takes place in your mindset and your perspective, and you open the hidden doors of opportunity.

Your mind begins to have more clarity and you begin to see things you had never noticed previously.

When you shift your thoughts and feelings to how you can help others your own Ego becomes smaller and this causes a higher conscious awareness of situations, events, and circumstances in your life that you were previously unaware of.

When you shift to focusing on what you can do to make a difference you invoke a supernatural energy that other people can sense and more people will gravitate to you naturally with opportunities for you.

This is when previously hidden opportunities begin to mysteriously pop up in many areas of your life. This is when you begin to develop that new set of eyes to see the world through.

Along with that new set of eyes you will also enjoy a heightened sense of calm, mental clarity, and you will send out powerful emotions that attracts people to you.

Think about that… every area of your present life, including your family, work, hobbies, interests, likes, and even dislikes, hold unseen powerful opportunities available to you at all times!

Dig into those different areas of your life and discover how you can make a difference in other people’s lives with your passion and knowledge in each of those areas.

The rewards can be life changing.

Why not take the time in these challenging days we are living in to search for and discover hidden opportunities that are in your life at this very moment.

Or would rather be plopped in front of the TV each night, resigned to the fact that your life is what it is and it isn’t going to get any better?

Don’t be like the man in the flood. Don’t pass by life changing hidden opportunities. Look for them… CoachDoug
